About Mia

The human brain is complex and understanding it can be complicated. Mia will collaborate with you and walk along side you throughout your therapeutic journey; as you reflect and navigate through your thoughts, emotions, values, core beliefs, and internal conflicts. In her practice Mia places foremost importance on the therapeutic relationship and in creating an environment that is welcoming, non-judgemental, and empathic. Mia is not only a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) but is also a Registered Social Worker. Mia is in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), as well as the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She is a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) as well as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She received her Honours Bachelor of Arts from University of Waterloo. Her major was in Social Development Studies (SDS) with the following specializations: social policy and social action, individual well-being and development, and social work. Mia received her Honours Bachelor of Social Work degree from University of Waterloo. She continued developing both professionally and academically by completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Mia has worked closely with various demographics and diverse population within both micro and macro settings. She has supported and brought resources to communities through community development initiatives. In addition, she has provided clinical psychotherapeutic services to individuals ages sixteen and older. Mia uses an integrative approach, with a focus on Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Strengths-Based Therapy (SBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBT), Cross-Cultural Therapy (CCT), as well an informed approach to Trauma-Focused Therapy (TFT). Mia has knowledge and practical experience working with various psychiatric diagnosis like major depressive disorder (MDD), bi-polar disorder, borderline personality disorder (BPD), schizophrenia, as well as complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD). In addition, she has provided therapeutic services to court mandated clients, those having problems related to their relationships, grief and loss, and anger/emotional regulation. Mia is available for in-person and virtual psychotherapy with TeleCARE.
